Gerald E. Otto, age 73, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his wife at 8:21 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at home.

Jerry was born in Jasper, Indiana, on December 27, 1950, to Arnold and Genevieve (Kempf) Otto. He married his first wife, Janet Sermersheim on June 24, 1972. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2010.  He then married Barbara Gilchrist on December 14, 2012.

Jerry was a Jasper High School graduate. 

In his earlier years, he worked at Acme Metal, later known as D.I.A. After the company shut down, he went to Decora until retirement. After retirement, he worked for Mehringer Metal. 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Jasper Moose.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, his two dogs, and spending time with family and friends. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara Otto, Jasper; one son, Chris “Pooky” (Jayme) Otto, Jasper, two step-sons, Timothy Carmickle, Bloomington, and Jeremy (Kelcey) Carmickle, Orleans, three grandchildren: Paige and Devin Otto and Chloe Carmickle, and one brother, Randy (Jan) Otto.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathleen Day.

A visitation for Gerald E. Otto will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday June 21, 2024, at the Becher Kluesner North Chapel.
