Joy Lee, age 67, of Velpen, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after a long fight against multiple system atrophy.

She was born January 17, 1957, in Jasper, Indiana, to Nelson and Freda (Himsel) Weisman; and married Ed Lee on April 15, 1978, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township.  Joy was a retired OBGYN nurse for Dr. Terry Brown for 20+ years and Dr. Steve Hopf for 20 years.  She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township; and enjoyed quilting, sewing, watching basketball games and gardening.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Pat Weisman.

Joy is survived by her husband, Ed Lee of Velpen; her daughter, Beth (Darren) Schilling of Velpen; two brothers, Jim Weisman of Otwell and Donnie (Suzy) Weisman of West Columbia, SC; and two grandchildren, Zane Gehlhausen and Neva Schilling.

Funeral services for Joy Lee will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township in Otwell, Indiana.  Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen.  A nursing vigil service will be conducted by the Southern Indiana Nurses Honor Guard at the start of the funeral. 

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday, July 29th; and also at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 9:00-10:00 a.m., on Tuesday.  Memorial contributions can be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen.  Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
