Wesley Leibering, of Huntingburg, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

He was born October      7, 1930, in Huntingburg to Walter and Geneva (Kemp) Leibering.  Wes was a proud Happy Hunter graduate of 1949.  He met a sweet girl named Madonna at the Labor Day Picnic in Huntingburg and asked her on a date to go to a Paoli football game.  She was freezing in her thin coat but Wesley warmed her heart and they were married on November 26, 1955.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and when he returned from duty, worked for Kimball at Jasper Laminates division for 39+ years.  His co-workers called him Red Dog.  He loved everything sports.  He and Madonna loved watching Southridge Basketball and it was a big thrill for them to watch them in the state final games.  Wes was a volunteer for the Southridge Raider Football team working the chain gang for 21 years from 1999 – 2020 until the age of 91.  He also was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Purdue sports, I.U. sports and the Colts.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Leibering; son Tom Leibering; daughter-in-law Debbie Leibering (fiancé Michael Scott); five grandchildren, Michael (Renee) Leibering, Jami (Jon) Mabb, Breanne (John) Wyman, Tommy Leibering and Ryan (Angelica) Leibering; six great-grandchildren, Izzy, Gaby, Toby, Sawyer, Emerson & Campbell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madonna Leibering; son, Jim Leibering; siblings, Walter “Beanie”, Robert, Truman and twin Orian James Leibering; one sister Katherine Blankenship.

Funeral services for Wesley Leibering will be held at 12:00 p.m., E.D.T., Saturday,      July 20, 2024, at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.  Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #2366.
