Kelly A. Friedman, age 62, of Dubois, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 10:39 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Kelly was born in Jasper, Indiana, on November 12, 1961, to John W. and Florence Celine (Matheis) Schott.  She married her husband of 32 years, Timothy E. Friedman on August 13, 1983, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on October 29, 2015.

She was a 1980 graduate of Northeast Dubois High School and a 1982 graduate of Vincennes University.  She served as Dubois County deputy auditor for many years.

She was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church – St. Isidore Parish in Dubois, Indiana, where she was a religious education teacher, served on parish council, was parish social basket chairman, and received the Brute Award along with her husband for their service at St. Raphael Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Dubois Ruritan. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandkids sporting events, family vacations, and was a lifetime supporter of St. Jude cancer research.  She was a big fan of Jeep Athletics and the Indiana University Hoosiers.

Surviving are two daughters, Leslie (Craig) Denu, Huntingburg, IN, and Laine (Parker) Busick, Dubois, IN; one son, Luke Friedman, Miami, FL; five grandchildren: Hadley and Cooper Denu; Elsie, Nixon, and Nolan Busick; her father, John W. Schott, Dubois, IN, three sisters, Michelle (Robert) Rutemueller, Cincinnati, OH; Angie (Greg) Wineinger, Cuzco, IN; Kate (Mike) Tuttle, Indianapolis; one brother, John E. (Felicia) Schott, Crystal; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, is her mother and her brother-in-law, Michael Campbell.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kelly A. Friedman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
