Leroy P. Kerstiens, 83, of Ferdinand, passed away on Wednesday, August 28th at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. Leroy was born April 10, 1941 in Ferdinand to Cletus and Cecelia (Oeding) Kerstiens. He married Alene Gudorf on April 27, 1963 in Holy Family Church in Jasper. Leroy served in the National Guard. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church, St. Joseph’s Sodalityand St. Henry Community Club. Leroy enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Alene; two sons, Tim (Julie) Kerstiens of Huntingburg and Steven Kerstiens of Ferdinand; two daughters, Vickie (Tony) Rountree of Jasper and Jeni Kerstiens of Indianapolis; daughter in-law, Sheila Kerstiens of Ferdinand; nine grandchildren, Ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Jerome (Doris) Kerstiens of Jasper; two sisters, Rita (Dave) Blessinger of Jasper and Doris (Jeff) Langebrake of St. Meinrad.  Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donald Kerstiens, a grandson and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Ferdinand Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, September 2nd from 4-8:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and also on Tuesday morning from 7-9:30 AM at the funeral home.
