Theresa Louise Knott Roos, 84, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away at her home on September 3rd, surrounded by family, after bravely fighting multiple myeloma for many years. Theresa was born on May 5, 1940 in Louisville, KY to Paul and Mary Knapp Knott. She grew up in Dale, Indiana and then after losing her mother at a young age, moved to Lincoln City, Indiana with her father and two sisters, Dianne and Kathleen, before moving back to Dale. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Dale High School (Class of 1958). Theresa attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale for most of her life and later attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson, Indiana.

Theresa had many talents and loves in life which she carried through her career. She worked as a florist and clerk at Sherry’s Shop in Santa Claus and Wedeking’s in Dale. She also served as the Dale Clerk Treasurer where she kept books and as an instructional assistant at David Turnham Elementary where she shared her love for children and her value of education.

Theresa did all this while raising three children and creating a loving home with her husband of 63 years, Keith. She also loved volunteering and helping others through different organizations – as a religious education teacher, Worship Board member, and Christian Mother with St. Joseph Catholic Church, as an organizer with the Dale Fall Fest, as a timer with the HHHS swim team and as a volunteer interventionist at David Turnham Elementary.

Theresa was a happy, loving person who enjoyed reading, listening to music, crocheting and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. She loved following her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. Not only did she regularly attend cross country meets, swim meets, band contests, basketball games and cheerleading competitions, she often hosted her children’s teammates for pre-game meals. Theresa loved having her children, their friends and their family close by where she would share stories, listen to their stories and laugh (which she loved more than anything).

Theresa’s happiness, faith, empathy, understanding and love have impacted so many. Her legacy will live on through everyone she has met.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Keith Roos of Pendleton, Indiana; her three children, David (Stephanie) Roos of Lula, GA, Paula (Bruce) Poston of Pendleton, IN and Amiee Roos of Carrolton, KY; Six grandchildren, Olivia (Brad) Kerns, Jesse (Kelli) Roos, Jacob Roos, Emma Roos, Logan (Kiley) Kisinger and Lexie Kisinger; Three great grandchildren, Jack, Hudson and Ellie Kerns; Three step grandchildren, Matt (Connie) Poston, Heather (Michael) Abernathy and Jeremy (Victoria) Poston; her sister, Kathleen Knott Berg, her sister in law, Bonnie Boger Roos and many nieces, nephews, cousins and step-grandchildren.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Knott, her newborn son, Paul Defay Roos, her sister, Dianne Knott Recker, her mother and father in law, Defay and Margaret Roos , her brother in laws, James Berg and Richard Roos, her niece Sheila Roos Williams and nephews, Steve Recker and Rick Recker.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dale, Indiana.
