Charles Edward O’Bryan, age 85, of Huntingburg, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026, surrounded by his family at home.

He was born on January 25, 1940, at home in Stanley, Kentucky, to Henry Elmo and Margie Ann (Dishman) O’Bryan, and married Theresa Marie Castlen on September 18, 1965, in Owensboro, Kentucky.

He earned degrees in Philosophy and Art Design from St. Mary’s College in Lebanon, Kentucky, and Brescia University in Owensboro. He worked as a wood carver and pattern maker in the furniture industry before founding his own company, Trendz, Inc., where he developed and designed manufacturing methods for molds used in polyurethane and other products. He continued creating patterns and carvings for both the furniture industry and personal enjoyment. Much of his artwork remains on display in his home and in the homes of friends and family.

He took great pride in his children, especially in their loving faith and strong work ethic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Bill and John O’Bryan; one son-in-law, Brad Hanner; and by one grandson, Ross D’Esposito.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Marie O’Bryan of Huntingburg; four children, Erin (Steve) Rust of Huntingburg, Carrie (Steve) D’Esposito of Brownstown, Ted (Jan) O’Bryan of Huntingburg and Emily Hanner of Holland; and by thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Charles Edward O’Bryan will be held at 11:00 a.m., C.S.T. (12:00 p.m., E.S.T.), Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Peace Episcopal Church, 1092 IN-66, Rockport, Indiana 47635. Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to an art organization or school of your choice.
