Mary Jane Neuhoff, age 87, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 8:02 a.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022, in the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana, surrounded by her family.

Mary Jane was born in Ireland, Indiana on August 27, 1934, to George and Emma (Sermersheim) Steinhart.  She married Harold Neuhoff on August 28, 1952, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on June 20, 2009. Mary Jane was a 1952 graduate of Jasper High School, where she was a member of the marching band.   She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Indiana, and their Ladies Blessed Sodality, the Jasper D of I, and the Sacred Heart Auto League. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, playing cards, especially Cinch, and she enjoyed occasional trips to the winery and casinos.

Surviving are nine children, Kenneth (Kathleen) Neuhoff, South Bend, IN, Sue (David) Schroeder, Jasper, IN, John Neuhoff, Jasper, IN, Tom (Karen) Neuhoff, St. Anthony, IN, Debra (Timothy) Lueken, Huntingburg, IN, Cynthia (Steve) Bredhold, Jasper, IN, Cheryl (Kenny) Hentrup, Jasper, IN, Harold Jr. (Brenda) Neuhoff, Huntingburg, IN, and Mary Jo (David) Begle, Ferdinand, IN, 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren on the way.

Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents are one brother, Richard Steinhart, and one sister, Betty Jean “Patsy” Steinhart, who died in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jane Neuhoff will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Indiana, with a burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.  The Ladies Blessed Sodality and the Jasper D of I will pray a combined rosary at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to go for Masses at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Heart to Heart Hospice, the Garden Ridge Memory Unit at Northwood Retirement Community, or to the wishes of the family.
