Audrey E. Habig, age 89 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday (December 12, 2015) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Habig, AudreyAudrey was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 10, 1926 to James and Margerite (Burke) Dineen.  She married Anthony Habig on December 15, 1955 in Pasadena, California.  He preceded her in death on February 15, 2013.

Audrey was an actor who worked in film, television, and theater.  She was known as the “Queen of Live TV Commercials”, and was featured weekly on the Ina Ray Hutton Show. She was the first woman featured in a commercial to sell beer on television.

She was an avid supporter of the arts and a former board member of the Jasper Community Arts Commission.

She was a member of the “18 Hole Ladies Golfers” group at the Jasper County Club, and the Jasper Ladies Racquet Club.  She also loved to travel for both business and pleasure.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one sister; Mary Dineen, and two brothers; Richard Dineen and James Dineen.

An “Afternoon Tea and Tribute” for Audrey E. Habig will be held on Thursday (December 17th, 2015) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.  Tea will be served from 4:30 p.m. until the tribute at 6:00 p.m.   Fr. Ray Brenner will officiate.

Private burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Community Foundation – The Anthony and Audrey Habig Endowment or a favorite charity.
