Clara E. “Edie” Merkley, age 89 of Portersville, IN, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday (January 7, 2017) at the Waters of Huntingburg.

Clara was born in Perry County, Indiana on December 6, 1927 to Edward and Edna (Albin) Hartwick. She married Hubert Merkley on September 26, 1992 in Jasper, Indiana.

Clara retired from Jasper Desk Company after 26 years of service.

She enjoyed fishing, quilting, gardening, and reading.

Preceding her in death was a husband, Roy Rodenhouse, two grandchildren; Danny Joe Bouillon, and Tracy Lynn Law, a step son; Roger Merkley, one sister; Kathleen Faulkenberg, and three brothers; Louis, Alfred, and Allen Hartwick.

Funeral services for Clara E. “Edie” Merkley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (January 16, 2017) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN. Pastor Larry Van Camp will officiate .

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday (January 15, 2017) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
