Gene R. LaGrange, 78 of Mariah Hill died Monday January 2nd at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. He was born July 16, 1938 in Saint Meinrad, Indiana to Everett & Jeanette M. (Werne) LaGrange. He married Anna I. Dilger on October 25, 1958 in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.

Gene was a retired teacher at North Spencer School Corporation. He received his teaching degree from Brescia College and his Masters degree from Indiana University. He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi – Mary Help Of Christians Parish. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed golf and was an Indiana University basketball & Los Angeles dodgers fan.

Survivors include his wife Anna I. LaGrange. One son, John (Stacey) LaGrange of Santa Claus, Two daughters, Cheryl (Ray) Springston of Holland, and Jennifer L. LaGrange of Mariah Hill. Five grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren. One brother, Don (Jeannie) LaGrange of Washington. And his beloved dog Toby.

There will be no visitation. Gene’s wishes were cremation. A mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date. Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand is in charge of all arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
