Harold A. Meyer, Sr., age 87, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:16 p.m., on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

He was born February 18, 1929, in Mariah Hill, Indiana to Edward and Clara (Bredhold) Meyer; and was united in marriage to Mary Ann Bertke on April 30, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda. Mr. Meyer was a construction laborer who worked for Olinger Construction Company and W.D. Bartlett Construction. Harold was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps; and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a 66 year member of the Santa Claus American Legion Post #242. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Meyer; three brothers, Renus Meyer, Melvin Meyer and Elmer Meyer; and one sister, Estella Meyer.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Meyer of Huntingburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rosemary Meyer of Huntingburg and Donna S. (Ray) Sattler of Holland; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Paul J. (Bonita) Meyer of Jasper, Allen (Carol) Meyer of Huntingburg, George J. Meyer of Ferdinand, Harold (Joan) Meyer, Jr. of Huntingburg and Thomas E. Meyer of Huntingburg; his daughter-in-law, Lily Hubert of Fulda; one brother, James J. Meyer of Huntingburg; by (13) grandchildren, (2) step grandchildren, (7) great grandchildren and (3) step great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Harold A. Meyer, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand and military graveside rites will be conducted by the Santa Claus American Legion Post #242 Memorial Detail.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Tuesday. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com
