Ida M. Gehlhausen, 74 of Ferdinand passed away Monday February 28th at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born December 26, 1945 in St. Meinrad to Albert & Frieda (Gessner) Fetter. She married Bernard “Bennie” Sanders on October 14, 1967 in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. He preceeded her in death on April 7, 1993. She married Leonard B. Gehlhausen Sr. on December 26, 1994 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Ida was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Auxillary. She was a housekeeper, and worked at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center cafeteria. She also volunteered for several area charities. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, cleaning & spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Leonard B. Gehlhausen, 2 sons, Keith Sanders and fiancé (Terra Fuhs) of Lake Helmerich Village, & Lieutenant Col. Michael (Kathy) Sanders of Langley Air Force Base, VA. 1 step-son, Leonard B. Gehlhausen of Huntingburg. 2 step-daughters, Jody (Dale) Kessinger of Evanston, & Christy Beadles of Huntingburg. 15 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren. 1 sister, Eileen (Robert) Artmeyer . She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Daniel, Sylvan, Delbert Fetter & 2 in infancy, 4 sisters, Arlinda Wendholt, Jeanette Buechler, Lietta Wendholt & 1 sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday March 4th in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
