Ralph Norman, 89, of Birdseye, passed away at 10:54 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

He was born November 3, 1927, near Eckerty, Indiana to Rubie and Alma (King) Norman; and was married to Amzel June Zehr on July 3, 1948. Ralph worked as an engineer with the State Highway Department. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and raising cattle. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, who died May 1, 2007; one sister, Crystal Cain, and four half-siblings, Patricia Newkirk, Michael Norman, and two infant siblings.

He is survived by one son, Dave (Jane) Norman of Birdseye; five half-siblings, Donna Smith, Nellie Newkirk, Charlene Harlan, Fannie Calvert and Wayne Norman; two grandchildren, Jill (Keith) Persohn of Schnellville and Steven (Lisa) Norman of Owensville, Indiana; and four great grandchildren, Carter, Lexi, Dylan and Brittany.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., E.D.T., Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye. Reverend Albert Madden will officiate.
