Charles H. “Botts” Bohnert, age 90 of Jasper, passed away at 10:24 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana.

Botts was born on September 27, 1926 in Jasper, Indiana to Hilbert and Eva (Breitweiser) Bohnert. He married D. Helen Leinenbach on November 27, 1947 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2014.

He retired from TransCanada Natural Gas Company in Celestine, Indiana and then worked part time in maintenance for Old National Bank.

He served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post #147 in Jasper.

Botts was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Doris Moran and Mary Ann Alles.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles H. “Botts” Bohnert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow at Jasper Enlow City Cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, the Dubois County Humane Society, or to a favorite charity.
