David J. Hawkins, age 88, of Huntingburg, passed away at 3:15 a.m., on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

He was born May 22, 1929, in Duff, Indiana to David T. and Myrtle (Bufkins) Hawkins; and married Christina J. Sullivan on August 4, 1951, in Jasper. David was a factory worker and truck driver for D.M.I. He enjoyed deer hunting, spending time with his family, and helping out family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randy L. Hawkins and David W. Hawkins; and his sister, Katherine Brenner.

He is survived by his wife, Christina J. Hawkins of Huntingburg; two daughters, Paula Braunecker of Ferdinand and Kathy Braunecker of Santa Claus; by seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services for David J. Hawkins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-7:00 p.m., Friday; and also from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m., Saturday. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com
