Charles O. Hobbs, Sr., age 83, formerly of Birdseye, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Willowdale Village in Dale.

He was born September 20, 1933, in Crawford County, Indiana to Stillman and Marie (Harlen) Hobbs. Charles worked for many years at the Jasper Rubber Company; served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; and loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Delorus Sullivan.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, David E. (Amy) Hobbs of Chandler and Charles O. “Chuck” Hobbs, Jr. of Texas; two siblings, James (Ollie) Hobbs, Jr. of Holland and Carol Jean “Jeanie” Naugle of Salem; three grandchildren, Cathryn “Caty” Hobbs, Amanda (Hobbs) Miller and Corryn “Cory” Hobbs; and by five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the Oakhill Cemetery near Birdseye. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
