Gail A. Vaal, age 66 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at home.

Gail was born in Huntingburg, IN, on February 11, 1951 to William and Rita (Beck) Kiefer. She married Bernard “Benny” Vaal on November 11, 1972 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was a homemaker and a worked as a cashier for Buehler’s Pharmacy.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and a member of the American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary.

She enjoyed doing things outside, playing cards, being with friends and people, her dog Gus, and her family and granddaughters meant everything to her.

Surviving are her husband, Benny Vaal of Jasper, two sons, Adam Vaal (Stacie) of Jasper, and Bret Vaal (Tina) of Bretzville. Two grandchildren, Hailey and Luana Vaal, three brothers, Al Kiefer (Companion Lisa Kern), Mike Kiefer (Michelle), and Tom Kiefer (Glenda) all of Jasper.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a grandson, Garrett Vaal.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gail Vaal will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in the Jasper Enlow City Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois Community Foundation – Bill and Rita Kiefer Endowment, St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Dubois County Humane Society.
