Vincennes University Jasper will offer a new Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) training program for Fall 2017.

A qualified medication aide is a certified nurse aide (CNA) who has completed additional training, annual in-service training, and demonstrated competency while dispensing and passing medications and or applying/administrating treatments under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse. Those who successfully complete the classroom and clinical QMA program will be able to apply for the Indiana State Department of Health QMA exam. The QMA training program consists of 100 hours of training to include 60 hours of classroom instructions and 40 hours of supervised practicum. The VU Jasper QMA program is approved by Indiana State Department of Health. Class dates and time are Mondays and Tuesdays, 6 to 9:30 PM, October 15 through December 5, 2017. Cost is $895 and includes all books and materials. Instructor/ and Program Director is Lori L. Dooley, RN.

All applicants must attend a required orientation Monday, September 25th at 6:00 PM in the VU Jasper Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing Building. At this meeting attendees will learn program and clinical requirements, student rules and policies, receive required forms, and take a basic reading and math test.

Registration will begin Friday, September 29th, beginning at 8:15AM in the Administrative Suite of the same building. Payment in full or agency voucher required at time of registration.
