Kathleen M. Freson, age 91, of Huntingburg, passed away at 7:55 p.m., on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born December 1, 1925, in Birdseye, Indiana to Leo and Lucy (Schnell) Welp. Kathleen graduated from Birdseye High School followed by cosmology school in Louisville, Kentucky. She married Robert A. Freson and they made their home in Huntingburg where she owned and operated Kathleen’s Beauty Salon for over 60 years. Kathleen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, V.F.W. Post #2366 Ladies Auxiliary; and the local hairdressers association where she served as past-president. Kathleen enjoyed the friendships she formed with her many patrons; as well as watching Indiana University basketball and attending Bombers baseball games with her friend Robert Carnahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Freson, who died August 16, 1982; one son, Gary L. Freson; and five siblings.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane (Jim) Bigler of Indianapolis; one son, Paul (Julia) Freson of Ft. Wayne; one brother, Lee Joe (Betty) Welp of Birdseye; and granddaughter, Marissa (Jacob) Sauer of Ft. Wayne.

Funeral services for Kathleen Freson will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 24th. A V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
