Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Royer, 67, of Indianapolis, formerly of Jasper, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center, Newburgh, Indiana

He was born September 26, 1950, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Homer Lee and Martha Jane (Selby) Royer, Jr.  Jerry was a licensed funeral director; a former Dubois County Coroner; had previously worked for the Ferdinand Police Department and the Marion County Police Department; a former Lieutenant of Marion County Sheriff Department.  He had served in the Army at Worms, Germany in communications; was a Viet Nam veteran and a former member of the Jasper VFW.  Jerry was a 32nd degree mason of the Nobels of the Mystic Shrine.   He loved his canine friends especially Effie.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Sue (Bernard) Kemker of Jasper; a brother, Thomas Allen (Sue) Royer, nieces, a nephew and friends.

Funeral services for Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Royer will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T, Friday, February 9, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Enlow Cemetery in Jasper with military graveside rites conducted by the Jasper VFW Post # 673 Memorial Detail.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Thursday, February 8th.   A masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by the Dubois County Masonic Lodge #520 F&AM.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a memorial service Friday morning at the funeral home prior to the church service.
