Dolores M. Eckerle, age 88, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Dolores was born in Jasper, Indiana, on September 17, 1929, to Othmar and Catherine (Mehringer) Sermersheim.  She married Karl W. Eckerle on June 6, 1950, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.  He preceded her in death on November 4, 1994.

Dolores previously worked at Dairy Queen and K-Mart in Jasper, and was a volunteer at Northwood Good Samaritan in Jasper.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper D of I, St. Ann’s Society, and the Oblates of St. Benedict.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren

Surviving are three daughters, Diana Eckerle, June (Bryan) Hochgesang, Angie (Brian) Pfaff, two sons, Steven Eckerle, Scott (Roxane) Eckerle, all of Jasper, IN, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one brother, Hilbert “Hip” (Viola) Sermersheim, Jasper, IN.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one daughter, Pamela McConnell, one son, Kelly Eckerle, one sister, Marcella Persohn, and one brother, Alvin Sermersheim.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores  M. Eckerle will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
