81-year-old DeAnna A. Eckert, of Huntingburg, passed away on June 26, at her residence.

She was born December 8, 1937, in Birdseye, Indiana, to Merle and Inez (King) Eckert.  DeAnna was a school teacher and guidance counselor for the Southwest Dubois County School Corporation.  She graduated from Indiana State University in 1959 and also received her Master’s Degree.  She was a member of the Indiana Teachers Association and Birdseye Conservation Club.  DeAnna was preceded in death by her father, Merle Eckert, on September 15, 2001; and her mother, Inez Eckert, on December 28, 2006.

The is survived by two cousins, Gordon Ray Eckert of Eckerty, Ind. and Glen Eckert of Indianapolis, Ind.

Friends are invited to attend graveside services for DeAnna Eckert to be held at 11:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye.  Pastor Kim Allen will officiate at the graveside service.  Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
