Rosina M. Schuler, age 95, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Legacy Living in Jasper.

Rosina was born in Staten Island, New York, on January 14, 1928, to Giuseppe and Filomena (Vizzuso) Menonna. She married Aloysius M. Schuler on August 21, 1954, in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He was an educator of Agriculture and Science. They were happily married for 57 years. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2011.

After leaving Staten Island, Rosina moved to Indianapolis where she attended school and church services at the Italian parish of Holy Rosary Church. She was a high school graduate of Arsenal Technical School in Indianapolis. She went on to Marian College and graduated with two degrees in Music and Spanish.

She moved to Jasper, Indiana in 1949, and taught Music, Special Education, and Spanish. She always said that the best decision she ever made was to come to Jasper and become a member of this wonderful community.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served in the church choir. She was a lector, Eucharistic and Stephen minister. She was a member of the Jasper Philharmonic Music Club, Daughters of Isabell Circle #140, Delta Chi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa- both active and associate, American Legion Auxiliary No. 2017, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post # 673, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Dubois County Retired Teachers Association, Leader of SPRED- Special Religious Education, a founding member of the original Dubois County Tourism Association, volunteer at the Dubois County Museum, Sponsor of the Jasper Community Arts Association, and a Donor of a Scholarship Endowment Fund with Dubois County Community Foundation INC.

Rosina received awards through the Brute Society of the Catholic Diocese of Evansville and the Delta Mu Theta National Catholic Music Honor Society.

Rosina enjoyed playing cards, volunteering in the community, helping other people and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by, two daughters; Maria (Greg) Vogler, Downers Grove, IL, Cristina “Tina” Schuler- Cyrill and Michael Morris, Fort Lauderdale, FL, son; Michael Schuler, Bloomington, IN, five grandchildren; Nathan Vogler and fiancé Marianne Dreisbach, Drew (Erin) Vogler, and Alex (Abby) Vogler and Nicolle and Matthew Cyrill.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Aloysius Schuler, brother; Giovanni Menonna, daughter-in-law; Joyce Schuler, and son-in-law, Gregory Vogler.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rosina M. Schuler will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:45 a.m. and the Tri Kappa Sorority will have a service at 9:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Aloysius and Rosina Schuler Scholarship Fund at the Dubois County Care Community Foundation 600 McCrillus Street, Jasper, IN, 47546.
