Eugene Henry “Jeep” Kahle, age 89, of Holland, passed away at 7:09 p.m., on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

He was born Apil 6, 1934, in Holland, to Freidolen B. and Carrie C. (Wellemeyer) Kahle; and married Shirley M. Bolling on June 3, 1956, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. Jeep was a member of the Holland United Methodist Church, where he served as the former president of the administrative counsel, sang in the choir and rang the church bells during services.  He was an avid fan of gospel music; and sang in a men’s group known as A Joyful Noise, in which he helped start. He was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball, the Los Angeles Dodgers and softball. Jeep worked at Holland Dairy, Kimball and Jasper Corporation; after retirement he worked at Top Cat Printing and Family Roots. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley M. Kahle, who passed away on January 24, 2022; three siblings, Bruce Kahle, Rose Meyer and Lucile Fenneman; and one son-in-law, Douglas Partenheimer.

He is survived by five children, Kathy Partenheimer of Holland, Sherry (Rick) Buschkoetter of Jasper, Melodie (Kevin) Brooks of Huntingburg, Jody Kahle of Holland and Kary (Kristy) Kahle of Chandler; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Eugene “Jeep” Kahle will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.D.T., Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Holland United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Holland Methodist Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Holland American Legion #343. Pastor Jim Higdon will officiate the service. 

Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 29th; and also one hour prior to the service on Monday. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
