Linus L. Stenftenagel, age 94 of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 4:23 am on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at home.

Linus was born in Jasper, Indiana on March 2, 1929, to William and Rose (Wilz) Stenftenagel.  He married Hilma Armstrong on July 4, 1959.  She preceded him in death on August 18, 2010.

Linus was a retired coal miner and farmer.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Huntingburg.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his beloved dogs Sassy and Charlie.  

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Talley-Robinson (Jeff), Jasper, and Sheila Conrad (Kevin), Jasper, six sons, Paul Stenftenagel, Ferdinand, Tommy Stenftenagel (Chris), Florida, Rick Stenftenagel (Marilyn), Ireland, Shane Stenftenagel (Diane), Jasper, Alan Stenftenagel (Brenda), Jasper, and Terry Stenftenagel (Companion Kristi Miller), Ireland, one daughter-in-law Francine Dodson, Denham Springs, Louisiana, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death beside his wife was one son, Ronald Dodson, one sister, Ardella Hopf, and four brothers, Victor, Robert, Sylvester, and Roman Stenftenagel.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Linus L. Stenftenagel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. 

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass time at the church on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
