Gary A. Hasenour, age 73, of Celestine, Indiana, passed away at 6:38 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Gary was born in Jasper, Indiana, on September 22, 1952, to Victor and Mae (Striegel) Hasenour. He married Dolores Mehling on June 25, 1977, in St. Ferdinand Church.

He was a 1970 Jasper High School graduate.

In his earlier years, he drove truck with his dad and brother at Central Concrete. In the 1970s, he began working in construction where he worked union for Kluesner Masonry. Some of his projects included the Eastland Mall and St. Marys Hospital in Evansville. He was project manager at St. Meinrad Seminary for their renovation in the early 1980s. In 1984, he founded Hasenour Construction where he discovered his passion for masonry and construction. Now his two sons, Nick and Pat, continue the family business. 

He was a member of St. Isidore Parish- St. Celestine Catholic Church, charter member of the Celestine Jaycee Park, Celestine Community Club, Builders Association of Dubois County, and Dubois County Bank Board. He was co-chairman of building the Celestine Parish Hall.

He volunteered his time at the Celestine Streetfest, Celestine Fire Department shoot and tractor pull, church fundraisers, and clearing snow for St. Celestine Catholic Church and community just to name a few.

He received the Celestine Distinguished Service Award and the Simon Brute Award.

He enjoyed working, and anyone that worked with Gary knew that you better work hard. He made you work to your full potential. His favorite saying was, “How many hands do you have?” He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dolores Hasenour, five children: Melissa (Nick) Miller, Nicholas (Rachelle) Hasenour, Amanda (Cody) Schnell, Patrick (Riley) Hasenour, and Philip (Emily) Hasenour, one sister, Sue (Loren) Brahm, two brothers: Tom (Evelyn) Hasenour and Jack (Deb) Hasenour, 14 grandchildren: Maddi and Sophie Miller, Abigail and Olivia Hasenour, Aubrey, Anna, Levi, and Hugo Schnell, Gabe, John and Eliza Hasenour, Lexie, Avery, and Reese Hasenour. 

He is preceded in death by twin grandsons: Samuel and Aiden Miller and his parents: Victor and Mae Hasenour, two brothers: Allen Hasenour, and Joseph Hasenour who died in infancy, and brother-in-law, Joe Mehling. 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gary A. Hasenour will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. 

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Becher Kluesner downtown chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Celestine Fire Department, Riley’s Children’s Hospital, Celestine Park, St. Isidore Parish or favorite charity.
