Jewanna Mattice, age 83, of Holland, Indiana, formerly of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Jewanna Mattice Obituary Photo519_edited-1She was born June 25, 1932 in Harlan County, Kentucky, to Oscar and Fannie (Godsey) Shumate.  Mrs. Mattice was a retired nurse.  She enjoyed singing southern gospel music; and was active in her home church in Corbin, Kentucky, where she taught bible school.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eugene Mattice, who died in 2003; two daughters, Donna Lane and Judy Oberhausen; three brothers, Jim Shumate, Tom Shumate and Don Shumate; and one sister, Vera Bruce.

She is survived by:

Two sons and two daughter-in-laws,

Charles (Becky) Jones of Holland, Ind.,

Jimmy (Donna) Jones of Francisco, Ind.;

Two stepdaughters,

Debbie Clausen of Ripon, Wisconsin,

Lois Mattice of Berlin, Wisconsin;

Two stepsons,

Hank Mattice of Berlin, Wisconsin,

Eugene Mattice of Berlin, Wisconsin;

One brother,

Glenn Shumate of Corbin, Kentucky;

by (10) grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jewanna Mattice will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.S.T., onWednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburgwith burial to follow at Spurgeon Cemetery in Spurgeon, Indiana.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-7:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Tuesday.  Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com.
