Donald E. Metzger, age 77, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday (August 31, 2016) at home.

Don was born in Kosciusko County, Indiana, on October 11, 1938, to Chancey and Edna (Blocher) Metzger. He married Mae Graber April 9, 1960, in Bera Mennonite Church in Montgomery, Indiana.

Don worked at Kimball for 20 years, and then Acme Metal and the Holiday Inn in Jasper.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, a charter member of the Line Lodge #743, where he was past Master, Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #601, a 50 year member of Farm Bureau, a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite, and a 49 year Shriner at the Hadi Temple.

He enjoyed collecting Hummel statues, Anri wood carvings, and Lladro figurines. He also liked watching the Shrine Parades; he participated in them at a younger age.

Preceding him in death is one sister, Carolyn JoAnn Metzger, who died in childhood.

Funeral services for Donald E. Metzger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (September 7, 2016) at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Pastor Jane Hillman will officiate.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the 8:00 p.m. at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper on Tuesday (September 6, 2016) and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. The Masons will hold a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, the Dubois County Shrine Club or to a favorite charity.
