James L. Ferguson, 88 of Santa Claus died Monday December 26th at his home in Christmas Lake Village. He was born July 29, 1928 in Bloomfield, Indiana to Quince & Jane (Haywood) Ferguson. He married Wilma Jean Thompson on July 4, 1952 in Bloomfield Methodist Church, in Bloomfield.

James was a retired mechanic after 35 years at the Crane Naval Depot. He was a Korean Era war Veteran. He was a former member of the Bloomfield Elks Club and the Bloomfield American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and the outdoors, hunting, especially deer.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Wilma Jean Ferguson. Two daughters, Terri Crowder of Fulda, and Lora Miller (Shawn) of Leander, TX. One son, Scott Ferguson of Franklin, In. 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ferguson & Margret Klier, two brothers, Joe & Richard Ferguson, and a son-in-law, Jerry Crowder.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT Saturday December 31st at Santa Claus United Methodist Church. Pastors Arlan Pope and Tim Altmeyer will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. Friends may call after 10:00 AM CDT Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the family. Becher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
