Lillian F. Eckert, age 90 of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, IN.

Lillian was born in Ireland, Indiana on July 2, 1927 to Milton and Geneva (Kearby) Armstrong. She married Urban Eckert on September 11, 1948 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on August 15, 2010.

She was a homemaker and had worked in the Ireland school cafeteria.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and their St. Anne’s Society, and the Ireland Sportsman’s Club.

Lillian enjoyed puzzles, collecting Hallmark ornaments and dolls, watching FOX news, and was a St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Pacers, and IU basketball fan.

Surviving is one daughter, Susan Vonderheide (Terry), Ireland, three sons, Jeff Eckert, Jasper, Rich Eckert (Jean), Ireland, Keith Eckert (Sheila), Ireland. ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three sisters, Judy Crane, Valencia, CA, Esther Grundhoeffer (Kenny), Evansville, and Linda Beard, Jasper, one brother, Charles “Pete” Armstrong (Mary Ann), Jasper.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one sister, Hilma Stenftenagel, three brothers, Lester, Howard, and Donald Armstrong, and one brother who died in infancy, and a daughter-in-law, Kelli Eckert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian F. Eckert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN, with burial to follow at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund, the Kelli Eckert Scholarship Fund, or a favorite charity.
