Linus R. Wigand age 87 of Jasper Indiana, passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Brookside Village in Jasper, IN.

Linus was born in Jasper, Indiana on September 18, 1930, to John and Alice (Schlachter) Wigand.  He married Rosemary Heeke on April 25, 1953 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Linus worked at Hoffman Bros., Sternberg Garage, and retired as a bartender from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #673 in Jasper after 37 years of service.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the American Legion Post 147, the Knights of Columbus since 1952, and was a life member of the VFW Post #673.

Linus enjoyed working on cars when he was younger. He was a NASCAR and St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He enjoyed country music, especially the Grand Old Opry, and spending time with his friends and family.

Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Wigand, one daughter, Debbie Collignon of Jasper, three sons, Jeff (Bette) of Moline, Illinois, Gary (Cheryl) Wigand of Jasper, and Ken (Kelly) Wigand of Jasper, nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great grandchild, and four step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Cleta Collins, Helen Dooley, Agnes Lewis and Mary Jane Thalmueller; and one brother, Leon Wigand.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Linus R. Wigand will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.  The VFW Post 673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN, and from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Tuesday.  The Holy Family Parish will pray the rosary at 2:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
