Zachary M. Bohnert, age 40,  of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Zachary was born in Evansville, Indiana, on June 12, 1978, to Michael J. and Lynne (Meyer) Bohnert.

Zachary was a graduate of Jasper High School.

He volunteered at the Dubois County Community Foundation shredding paper.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

He enjoyed the simpler things in life – the wind in his hair during a boat ride, the methodical movement of a car window with the press of the button, the sweet taste of Starbursts and a cold Sprite, and the comfort of rocking with a blanket in his lap, while listening to his favorite music.  His heart was as big as his smile.

Surviving, his mother Lynne Bohnert, Jasper, IN, one brother, Alex Bohnert, Colorado Springs, CO, one sister, Molly (William) Gately, Montclair, NJ, and his nephew and niece, George and Caroline Gately.

Preceding him in death are his father, Michael J. Bohnert, maternal grandparents, Harold and Bernie Meyer, paternal grandparents, Paul and Anna Bohnert, and his godfather, Mark A. Bohnert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Zachary M. Bohnert will be held at noon (12:00 p.m.) on Friday, December 7, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the noon service time at the church on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dubois County Community Foundation – Jasper Lions Club Eyecare Endowment, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or to a favorite charity.
