Allen L. Messmer, age 61, of Huntingburg, passed away at 12:53 a.m., on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born November 29, 1957, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Orville and Rose Mary (Egler) Messmer; and married Irene H. Kippenbrock on November 20, 1976, in St. Henry.  Allen was employed as a truck driver with E.H. Hamilton Trucking for 32 years.  He enjoyed playing cards, Jeeping, fishing, and most of all spending time with his grandkids.  Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mary Messmer.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Irene H. Messmer of Huntingburg; four children, Aaron (Dawn) Messmer of Ferdinand, Nathan (Becky) Messmer of Huntingburg, Lisa (Nathan) Pinkstaff of Huntingburg and Amber (Beau) Kellams of Huntingburg; his father, Orville Messmer of Huntingburg; six siblings, Sandy (Dave) Lant of Newburgh, Stan Messmer of Huntingburg, Curt (Mary) Messmer of Huntingburg, Pat (Sheryl) Messmer of Huntingburg, Tim (Ann) Messmer of Huntingburg and Doug (Karen) Messmer of Huntingburg; and nine grandchildren with one on the way.

Funeral services for Allen L. Messmer will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Friday, February 15, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.  Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand will officiate at the service.
