            Hazel Doris Sickbert, age 88, of Birdseye, passed away at 8:21 a.m., on Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

            She was born May 4, 1930, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Leonard and Elsie (Partenheimer) Katter.  Hazel was a homemaker and member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin A. Sickbert, who passed away May 11, 2012; her mother and father; one daughter, Sherry Betz; and one brother, Ervin Katter.

            She is survived by four children, Michael Sickbert of Birdseye, Ind., Gary (Vicki) Sickbert of Birdseye, Ind., Anita (Allen) Mehringer of Jasper, Ind., and Timothy “Siggy” Sickbert of Birdseye, Ind.; by (14) grandchildren, (33) great-grandchildren and (1) great-great-grandchild.

            Funeral services for Hazel Sickbert will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Monday, May 5, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg.  Pastor Mark McDaniel will officiate at the service.
