            Dorothy T. “Dot” Blessinger, age 81, of Schnellville, Indiana, passed away at 7:30 a.m., on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society Northwood Retirement Community.

            She was born July 30, 1938, in Schnellville, Indiana, to Maurice and Catherine (Miller) Stemle.  Dorothy worked at the Morning Star Cannery in Celestine for 4 years, the Jasper Table Company for 11 years, and at Walmart where she retired after 20 years.  She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality in Huntingburg since 1960, the Schnellville and St. Anthony Conservation Clubs, and Relay for Life.  Dorothy enjoyed traveling, reading, camping, and spending time with her grandkids.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ernie Stemle; and one sister, Rose Groemminger.

            She is survived by four children, Janet (Mike) Butler of Celestine, Connie Eckert of Ferdinand, Charles L. (Agnes) Blessinger, Jr. of Huntingburg and Sandra (Bob) Ahlemeier of Ferdinand; four sisters, Hilda Hoing of Ferdinand, Rita Klem of St. Anthony, Carol Stemle of Schnellville and Clara Fisher of St. Anthony; by (9) grandchildren and (5) great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services for Dorothy Blessinger will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville with burial to follow at the church cemetery.  Fr. Pius Klein, O.S.B., will officiate at the funeral Mass.

            Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 23rd.  A rosary prayer vigil, led by members of St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Memorial contribution can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com
