Betty June Kivela, 92, passed away on November 15, 2024, in Bozeman, Montana. Born on January 31, 1932, in Jasper, Indiana, to Collis and Clesta (Fallowfield) Leonard, Betty grew up in Birdseye, Indiana. Betty lived a vibrant life filled with love and care for those around her.

Betty graduated from Birdseye High School and dedicated herself to being a homemaker and caregiver, touching the lives of many as a nurse’s aide at Medco and Jasper Nursing Center. She was an active member of the Birdseye Christian Church and was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need.

A true lover of nature, Betty cherished moments spent camping and surrounded by animals. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she often spoke of how their laughter and smiles lit up her days.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Lori Gillet, who will forever remember her as a devoted and loving mother; sister, Pat Bruner; and 3 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Kivela; and brothers, Jerry and Bill Leonard.

A Service will be held at the Birdseye Masonic Lodge in Birdseye at 12:00 pm, Monday, December 9, 2024, with a reception to follow.
