Rosemary “Rosie” Denu, age 89 of Dubois, Indiana, passed away at 7:20 a.m. CST on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Walnut Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit in Evansville, IN.

Rosie was born in Ellsworth, Indiana on December 23, 1928 to John and Anna (Hasenour) Pieper.  She married Hilmar Denu on September 1, 1951 in St. Celestine Catholic Church.

She had worked for over 25 years at Wabash Valley Produce and retired in 1995.

She was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Raphael Campus in Dubois, where she was a member of their St. Anne’s Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella.

She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Hilmar Denu, Dubois, five children, Sharon Pizzato (Allan), Birmingham, AL, twins Diane Knies (Bernie) of Celestine and Daniel Denu (Cheryl) of Jasper, Alice Schitter (Rick), Ireland, and Nancy Mendel (Patrick), Ireland, 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, one sister, Loretta Wise of Louisville and one brother, Bernard Pieper (Phyllis) of Dubois.

Preceding her in death was one sister, Marie Pieper and four brothers, Eugene, Albert, and infants Edward and Victor Pieper.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rosemary Denu will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. The St. Isidore Parish St. Anne’s Sodality will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish, the Dubois County Museum, Dubois Ruritan Club Community Center Endowment, or a favorite charity.
