Indiana State Police accepted the lead investigation role into Farmer’s death per the request of Sheriff George Dallaire of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing and we will update this story with more information as it becomes available
Robert Higgenbotham was arrested without incident at his residence on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 and transported to the Washington County Jail on a Level 4 Felony charge of Child Molesting.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2023 the Vanderburgh County Clerk issued an arrest warrant for Benjamin Seger. County Deputies arrested Seger and transported him to the Vanderburgh County Jail on two Level 4 Felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography Where the Child is Under 12 Years of Age, two Level 5 Felony charges of Possession of Child Pornography where the Child is Under 18 Years of Age and two additional Level 5 Felonies for Vicarious Sexual Gratification as well as Child Solicitation.
Emergency personnel were at the scene of the accident until 1:30 local time in Tuesday’s early morning hours while officers diverted traffic. The investigation is ongoing; however, at this time it’s believed Henson could have become distracted and crossed the centerline. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor.
Authorities arrived at Trooper Smith’s home and observed him pull into the driveway as the sole occupant in his personal vehicle. They initiated a conversation where Trooper Smith displayed signs of impairment and investigation was initiated.

Arnold J. “Arnie” Mehringer, age 82 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:12 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.
Both the driver, Lydon Coffey, and passenger, Amber Hobby, were arrested and transported to the Dubois County Security Center. Each of them faces two Level 6 Felony charges for Possession of Methamphetamine and a Legend Drug, as well as a Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and a Class C Misdemeanor for Possession of Paraphernalia.
A Bloomfield resident contacted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon and reported that three people stole valuable items from the caller’s home.
